The purpose of online-only publication is to take full advantage of the medium of the Internet to improve the communication of scientific and clinical research and educational information in radiology. The specific improvements that can be achieved include the following:
Submit all material at http://rgxpress.rsna.org/
Follow instructions on the Publication Information for Authors page.
Manuscripts should be submitted as 4 MS Word documents (title page.doc, manuscript.doc, tables and figures.doc and CME.doc), containing all of the components that are required of any submission to RadioGraphics.
No material should be included that requires download of special software (plug-ins). Please note that, for security reasons, we cannot accept any type of cgi script as part of the submission.
Images used for publication should be first-generation files retrieved from the workstation. All window and level adjustments should be made before images are exported. Save exported files in TIFF format of the highest quality. Authors will need two file formats for each image: JPEG for initial submission and TIFF for final submission.
Please note: For initial submission only, the low-resolution JPEG images should be embedded in an MS Word document(s), along with the accompanying legends, grouping 3545 image parts per file. Name the files as "Images 120.doc", "Images 2140.doc", etc. The first file should be uploaded on the "Manuscript File Upload" page in the file for Figures and Tables slot; the remaining files with images should be uploaded as Data Supplements.
Movie files and animations will be accepted in the widely implemented standard formats MPEG (.mpg, .mpeg), QuickTime (.qt, .mov), AVI (.avi), Windows Media Video (.wmv), and Shockwave Flash (.swf), or as GIF animations. Audio should be in one of the standard Web formats (.wav, .mp3, .au, .aiff). A variety of software tools are available (public domain and commercial) for creating and viewing the above-named movie and audio formats (eg, see Free Video Tools). File compression and/or dimension limits should be used on movies to keep them at a reasonable size (less than 30 MB) unless there is a compelling reason for larger files. Interactivity, such as manipulation of 3D images or inclusion of a calculating tool, can be provided by using Javascript of applets. All multimedia and software files should be uploaded as data supplements at http://rgxpress.rsna.org/
Authors should ensure that all links to Web pages on the Internet are active and that the linked document is relatively permanent. Because authors cannot guarantee the permanence of these links, all material germane to the manuscript should be in the files submitted.
