(b) Follow-up axial CT scan obtained at 1 year of age shows the same findings (arrows), which are consistent with decreased myelination in the periventricular location and ex vacuo ventricular dilatation. (c) Axial fluid-attenuated inversion-recovery MR image obtained at 1 year of age shows a thin band of T2 hyperintensity along the ventricular surface (arrows), representing gliosis. Note that the deep, prominent sulci nearly abut the ventricular surface due to loss of white matter volume.
